This is a small dealer in a nice place (Edgewater, MD). The people are really nice but we did not have a great experience with the vehicles themselves. They are used vehicles which we thought had great prices. Stopped by to look for a vehicle for our 82 year old mother. Glad we did the footwork without her. We are now convinced that the vehicles are not checked thoroughly before offered for sale. We looked at a 1 year old vehicle, 16k, Ford Escape. Was not told anything about the vehicle just read the Carfax. Took it for a test drive, great ride. Really liked this vehicle but noticed the change oil light was on. We were told that their Lexus mechanic that fixes their cars didnt know how to turn the light off. Ok. Easy enough to do ourselves. Inspected the outside of the vehicle and discovered the grill was cracked and missing a small but very noticable piece of the grill. Not something that can be fixed, but would need a completely new grill. The front bumper was also cracked, as well as the bumper inset. Ok, used car got it, but priced out the parts at a Ford dealer (car too new to get parts elsewhere)which came up to well over $1400, not including labor, which we were going to do ourselves. This was shocking. Criswell's was willing to give us credit, but not even as much as the parts cost, yet alone labor. Sadly, had to let that one go. Another vehicle, exact same vehicle but different color. Again great ride but had damage. Two small rock hits in the very lower part of the windshield on the drivers side causing a small spider crack in the windshield which will get worse over time. They did not realize the crack was there. They explained Maryland law...if the damage isnt in the sight line of the driver then it will pass inspection. ?really? Why would anyone buy a car for that much money with a cracked windshield? Done at that point. They are very nice people but make sure you fine-tooth the vehicle and be sure that you are happy with your as is condition vehicle before you buy because they don't fix cars before putting them on the lot for sale and do not fix anything you find wrong during your vehicle search. Yes, the cars are used, but $18,850 is too much for a damaged Ford Escape that would cost over $2k to get it to look normal again. The first one had to have been wrecked and that was not disclosed in the Carfax. Buyer Beware. We can't imagine our 82 year old mother going to this place to buy a vehicle by herself. I have a feeling she would have been very naive and may have purchased a damaged vehicle.
